Setai Miami Beach’s Chef Wins Chopped

The Setai Miami Beach Set To Unveil A New Restaurant Concept

The Setai Miami Beach along with Executive Chef Mathias Gervais has announced a new restaurant concept is set to unveil this Fall. Jaya, a modern Asian-inspired restaurant, is scheduled to make its debut at the award-wining hotel late November. This news comes on the heels of Gervais’ win on last night’s Food Network show Chopped. Chef Mathias competed against three other chefs on Thursday’s episode entitled “Viewer’s Basket.” He impressed judges Marc Murphy, Aarón Sánchez and Geoffrey Zakarian by winning all three rounds and took home the Chopped champion title.

Coupled with the announcement of the new restaurant Jaya, Chef Mathias couldn’t be more excited. “One of my favorite things about being on Chopped was bringing this win home to Miami Beach, says Chef Mathias. “As we gear up for the launch, I am looking forward to hanging up my title in the Jaya kitchen.”

Celebrating conscious Southeast-Asian cuisine, Jaya will introduce diners to vibrant and exciting flavors to quickly make its mark on Miami’s booming culinary scene. Executive Chef Mathias Gervais and Executive Sous Chef Vijayudu Veena have collaborated to create standout dishes that incorporate the original Asian five spices. Highlighting the bold flavors of Asian cuisine, the new menu will artfully showcase regionally-specific dishes from Thailand, Vietnam, Korea, India, China and Japan. It will reintroduce longtime Setai favorites including Peking Duck, Naan Bread, Indian Curries, Sea Bass and Dumplings while maintaining its commitment to local and seasonally sourced ingredients. Dishes at Jaya will be served sharing-style, in an inviting atmosphere to make for a lively and approachable dining experience.
